neografo is a community to learn and share calligraphy, from people picking up a nib for the first time to people who have been writing for decades. Here you post pieces to get comments, ask questions, write tutorials together and share resources such as guidelines and exemplars. It started in Spanish and is now also in English.
neografo started in 2015 as a calligraphy blog. Now it's a community: a place where anyone can take part, learn and teach.
How it works
- One forum per style (italic, blackletter, copperplate, brush lettering…), with pieces, questions, tutorials and resources. Each style also has its own gallery.
- Comments that help. Pieces get comments to improve the stroke; the most helpful comments rise to the top, and whoever asks picks the answer that solved their question.
- Ink and levels. Contributing earns ink; ink raises your level and unlocks things: posting without review, adding links and images, writing tutorials, reviewing newcomers' posts.
- Weekly challenges to practice a shared theme and vote together.
Taking care of the community
The first posts and first comments of each new account are reviewed by someone experienced before they go live: this stops spam without bothering anyone else. Anyone can report anything that breaks the rules; if the team removes something, it explains why to the person who posted it, who can appeal the decision.
